TCPAland is powered by the Womble Bond Dickinson TCPA Litigation and Communications, Technology & Media groups.
The complete TCPA team–including 22 lawyers in Womble offices in California and across the South and Mid-Atlantic states — is led by veteran financial services litigation attorney Eric Troutman, the lead author and editor of TCPAland.
Troutman, who joined Womble in April 2018, is one of the country’s prominent class action defense attorneys and a household name in TCPA circles. He has served as lead defense counsel in more than 50 putative nationwide TCPA class actions and has litigated nearly a thousand individual TCPA cases in his role as national strategic litigation counsel for major banks and finance companies. He also helps industry participants build TCPA-compliant processes, policies, and systems.
Troutman’s national litigation practice was built upon deep experience, rigorous analysis, and extreme responsiveness to our clients. Troutman and his team feel equally at home litigating multi-billion dollar telecommunications class actions in federal court as they do developing and executing national litigation strategies for institutions facing an onslaught of individual TCPA matters. They thrive in each of these roles—delivering consistently excellent results —while never losing sight of the client experience.
But Troutman’s deep litigation talent is merely one component of Womble’s TCPA practice, which also draws on the firm’s D.C.-based Communications, Technology & Media team. The group’s TCPA regulatory and compliance practice advises companies throughout the economy on TCPA compliance risk and mitigation strategies, across calling and texting platforms and business units, including in connection with outsourced calling services and platform agreements. The group also has deep experience in call spoofing matters under the Truth-in-Caller ID Act.
The group’s lawyers are also known for their advocacy work before the FCC, and their relentless pursuit of common sense changes to regulatory policy in furtherance of their client’s interests when it matters most. Troutman, himself a California guy, describes his D.C. colleagues “as true beltway insiders who haunt the halls of the FCC so that I don’t have to anymore.”
Troutman and his team’s litigation chops integrated seamlessly with Womble’s team of Communications, Technology & Media professionals, has helped make the dream of a one-stop TCPA solution for TCPA compliance, advocacy, and litigation a reality. And that reality finds its natural home in TCPAland.
